Our course provides comprehensive coverage of all four Preliminary Chemistry modules:
- Module 1: Properties and Structure of Matter
- Module 2: Introduction to Quantitative Chemistry
- Module 3: Reactive Chemistry
- Module 4: Drivers of Reactions
Begin your journey into the molecular world. Our Preliminary Chemistry course demystifies the periodic table, atomic structure, and chemical reactions, building the essential foundation for HSC success.
From 12 October, our Year 10 Science class spends Term 4 building the foundations for this course, so you start Term 1 ready.
Save 20% when you enrol early and pay yearly — up to 30% with multiple subjects. Early enrolment closes 30 September 2026. See the discounts
This course introduces the fundamental principles that govern the material world.
We focus on developing a strong conceptual understanding of atomic structure, bonding, and stoichiometry (mol calculations).
Through clear explanations and structured problem-solving, we build the skills and confidence you need to transition smoothly into the demanding HSC Chemistry course. 🧪
Our course provides comprehensive coverage of all four Preliminary Chemistry modules:
A solid understanding of the concepts covered in Year 10 Science is assumed. Competency in basic algebra is also important for the quantitative aspects of the course.
Preliminary Chemistry is the first step towards a career in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Engineering, and Forensic Science. It is the essential prerequisite for studying HSC Chemistry.
The Preliminary Chemistry course introduces the most important foundational concepts for the HSC.
A deep understanding of stoichiometry, bonding, and intermolecular forces in Year 11 is critical, as these ideas are assumed knowledge in Year 12. Mastering this content sets you up for a top result in the HSC.
HSC Chemistry is a very high-scaling subject, similar to Physics. It is a challenging course that attracts a strong academic cohort, which is recognised in the ATAR calculation.
Raw HSC marks are consistently scaled up by UAC. For example, a raw HSC mark of 85 has historically scaled to over 90.
Excelling in Chemistry demonstrates a high level of analytical and quantitative reasoning, providing a significant advantage for students aiming for a competitive ATAR.

Guidance on reports, practicals, depth studies, plus personalised exam feedback.
A supportive environment with dedicated study spaces where students thrive.
Our proven 3-step cycle not only helps student's build confidence but provides them an effective framework that ensures students don’t just learn - they master.
Learn moreEvery week, students attend class led by expert teachers who break down the NESA syllabus with clarity and structure. They teach not just lecture.
After the weekly class, students complete structured homework that builds from fundamentals to high-level exam-style questions. This ensures that what’s learned in class is actively applied and retained.
True progress happens when students revisit, reflect on, and correct their mistakes. Our consolidation step ensures they don’t just move on — they master what they’ve learned.
Structured week-by-week topic schedules aligned to the NSW NESA syllabus. We teach each concept 3–4 weeks ahead of school, giving you the time to master theory, complete weekly practice, and prepare for school exams.

Our courses require a significant commitment. For this reason, all enrolments attend a personalised face-to-face or online enrolment meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that the student and parents understand the course, the commitment required and how to make the most of the experience. We also use this opportunity to answer any questions and address any concerns.
Several tutoring colleges offer a similar service but there are none that do it quite like Intuition. We don't skip steps or take shortcuts; we do what is in the best interest of our students and we always recognise that each student is an individual with individual needs. While we provide a structured, three-step learning cycle for our core course content, we also flexibly offer multiple course options so that students can find the right individual fit.
We also don’t just see ourselves as tutors; we see ourselves as developing the young leaders of tomorrow and our vibrant and energetic staff drive us daily on this path. Many of our staff members have completed an Intuition course themselves and are shining examples of our proven systems.
It’s important to note that our prices are all-inclusive. Students do not pay for extra help at Intuition. This is in stark contrast to our competitors who charge more for additional services, or simply do not offer them at all. Intuition offers extra tutorials, one-on-ones, additional materials, marking of homework for all year cohorts, help with schoolwork, and access to our unique online Ask-a-Tutor service.
See pricing for more information.
Schoolwork always takes priority but students that study at Intuition will be better equipped to tackle their schoolwork and achieve exam success. Our programs are structured to ensures every syllabus requirement is covered, reinforcing core concepts and maximising studying efficiency, while also providing stretch opportunities.
We also flexibly offer multiple course options so that students can find the right individual fit.
Our materials methodically cover the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus providing both sound theoretical grounding and extensive practical exposure.
Our resource team ensures that all our materials are regularly annotated and updated in line with the latest curriculum changes.
